I really love this one too! The image reflects the sheer determination in the boy's "march to battle" evident by bodies bent forward, head slightly down ... another priceless candid moment captured! Great job! Oh and another thing which adds perfection is the fact that both boys are in stride, both with the same leg forward! Balance is in the little things. Sometimes our eyes see it but we don't know why at first! Perfect! :+fav: on this too.

well, let's see... you need chalk and cement... you draw a rather large square.. anywhere from 6-9 feet in diameter... (pardon me if you're metric... i won't do conversions :p) and then divide that square into 4 equal squares. the squares are numbered 1-4 (1 being the square people wish to attain and maintain) the rules, oversimplified, are as follow: you bounce a ball (eg [link] ) into one of your opponents squares.. they mussn't let it bounce twice in their square or once and out of their square.. they bounce it into their opponents' squares etc. the game was developed for schoolchildren, but it lives on and has been developed upon by having added confusing and unexplainable rules throughout the years.. (i.e. peanut butter in the corner, black magic, white magic, typewriter, and the like)

the person in square one picks the rules for the game until he or she loses her spot.. in which case, square two moves to one, square 3 to 2 and so on and so forth.

other variations include "team four square" in which two people occupy each square.. team four square is stupid, though..

thank you for the explanation! yes, we metric people have a variation of that game. the difference is that there are lot more squares and not all of them are squares in fact (one "square" can be a half circle) and they are smaller (i imagine) and you need to jump on one leg in them or something of the sort. well, that's a lot of difference : ) but the bouncing ball principal is the same!! : ) and they are drawn with chalk on cement. very international game, it appears! : )
